An innovative and systematic series, Math for Lifelong Learning is designed to develop lifelong learner attributes through mathematics. The series features concept maps and other graphic organizers, performance assessment, metacognitive questions, rubric, integrative lessons on art, music, etc., guided by the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. Skills development is based on the recently revised (March 2007) BEC Math Philippine Elementary Learning Competencies (PELCs) and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) to ensure the development of competency skills such as problem solving, communication, connection, reasoning, and computational fluency.
• Develops students’ mathematical competencies and lifelong learning attributes such as being self-directed, reflective, and having an inquiring, analytical, and creative mind.
• Grabs learners’ interest through the use of concept maps and other graphic organizers that encourage learners to connect/show relationships of key concepts.
• Instills in pupils the skills of assessing their own learning and critical learning through special features: Knowing How I Learned (grades 1-3) and Realizing How I Learned (4-6).
• Ensures practical application of math lessons and collaborative outputs through involving hands-on activities.
• Enables teachers to evaluate performance tasks or portfolio projects using alternative assessment tools like rubrics.
